ACHIEVEMENT 2022-2023

Assessment is a key part of the teaching and learning process. Children are assessed on a regular basis by their teachers which tells us what we need to do to ensure that children meet their full potential.

From time to time children will complete tests as a measure of what they have fully embedded in their long term memory.

In terms of our performance on a national level we are pleased that our results are excellent as you will see below.

In the summer term of 2023, pupils were assessed in accordance with government guidelines. Below we have included some information on how our pupils performed so you can see how we compare to national statistics 2023. We are very proud of all our pupils and congratulate them on their hard work and achievements.

Information on St Aidan's performance from the Department for Education (DfE) can be viewed here

Scaled Score

Although tests are developed to the same specification each year, because the questions must be different, the difficulty of tests may vary. This means we need to convert the total number of marks a pupil gets in a test (their ‘raw’ score) into a ‘scaled’ score, to ensure we can make accurate comparisons of performance over time.

Pupils scoring at least 100 will have met the expected standard on the test. However, given that the difficulty of the tests may vary each year, the number of raw score marks needed to achieve the scaled score of 100 may also change. For example, if the overall difficulty of a test decreases compared to previous years, the raw score required to meet the expected standard will increase. Similarly, if the test is more difficult, the raw score required to meet the expected standard will decrease.

Average Scaled Score Per Pupil

Progress from the end of Key Stage 1 to the end of Key Stage 2

These scores are no longer reflected as the percentage of pupils who make expected progress but are calculated in comparison to other pupils nationally.

A score of 0 means pupils in the school, on average, do about as well at key stage 2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally. Therefore, if a score is above 0 this means that the pupils in our school achieved greater than the national average progress.

A positive score means pupils in this school on average do better at key stage 2 than those with similar prior attainment nationally.

A negative score means pupils in this school on average do worse at key stage 2 than those with similar prior attainment nationally.

Performance Measures

The government did not publish KS2 school level data for the 2021 to 2022 academic year. The last available public data is from the 2018 to 2019 academic year. It is important to note that the data from that year may no longer reflect current performance. We are required to share that data, as below:
